Apropos of Lance, I was listening to ESPN radio and a cycling commentator said that Lance isn't even close to being the best cyclist ever b/c he specializes in the Tour de France and doesn't seriously compete in any other major races. He compared it to Tiger preparing all year for the Masters and using other majors as training.
He also said that his team has the Tour down to such a science that Lance really only races in the time trials.
