The California lottery's advertising has stopped selling the prospect of buckets of cash, in a tacit admission the odds of winning are too remote for a quasi-government entity to sell to people in good faith. Now they sell the
feelings you get after buying a lottery ticket --- the mere dreaming that accompanies the distant possibility of being rich. For a dollar, you buy two days' worth of high hopes.
Your experience may not have been expressed during the focus group. Maybe you should write a letter.
