Unless it's a product of my fevered imagination, I recall eating "chicken" sandwiches that were make with "chicken" that was sliced, cold-cut style, from a chicken loaf. Did this actually exist? Good god we were poor.

you bastards are reminding me that I never got homemade lunches because us latch-key kids don't have moms who "shop for groceries" and "make sandwiches".* I feel so unloved.
*oddly I did have a couple of lunchboxes (Winnie the Pooh, Happy Days), but I don't recall really using them (and the Happy Days one was a hand-me-down from the days that my older sister was not a latch-key kid and, presumably, had homemade lunches).
