Why is not soccer far more exciting than football and baseball because there is constant action instead of the stop-start-stop-start that occurs all throughout the game.

Not that the reverse situation is not also true. Europeans get bored when NFL games are played in Europe because they are used to seeing highlight reels.

I guess my main point is that Sebastian is a boorish American slob who is too much of a pussy to drink real Scotch.
You, sir, have the boorish manners of a Yalie...

Basketball is the purest sport available, besides boxing, which is a pseudo-sport (only because boxers lack a legitimate season and pick opponents based on who they can beat and payday).

I don't know why football is exciting. Its probably because its the most like chess or war. It has more strategy and mental aspects to it than any other sport. Maybe baseball comes close, but the duel between a pitcher and hitter to determine whether he ought to swing isn't all that exciting. A perfectly executed hit and run doesn't get the blood rolling. But when a long bomb works in football, its glorious. But I do agree that smashmouth run the clock up the middle Big Ten football can get tedious. But not as tedious as a pitcher's duel.

Soccer would be better if the players were allowed to check each other or tackle each other, but I guess it would then be called rugby. Why folks in the states don't like rugby more amazes me. Its got all the violence imaginable, which more than compensates for lack of scoring.
