neo-radio

I was driving home yesterday, and I heard an NPR story on so-called neo-radio stations. These stations, believe it or not, are dedicated to music. I know it's a shock. Apparently they've rejected the Clear Channel model. They won't let their djs hype too much, they won't let their djs talk over music, they have no obnoxious morning shows, and commercials are limited to 12 or less minutes per hour. No promotions from the malls, no "be the ninth caller." Their playlists are in the thousands, not the hundreds, and apparently, they're doing rather well.

I was almost ready to move to Denver or San Diego on the spot when I heard about these stations, and I'm thinking of sending the NPR transcript to every radio station in town. http://www.npr.org/features/feature.php?wfId=3057018
