Kind of Boring Solicitation for Advice

Everybody who has given you advice is right. You must get rid of the raccoon as soon as possible. The only thing that hasn't been addressed is that I gather from your question that you rent. Is this correct? If that's the case, call your landlord immediately, so that he or she can arrange to get rid of the animal and make the necessary repairs.
I think my advice was that if it doesn't sound like a bear is stomping around overhead, the raccoon is not there and you don't need to take it out. My motto: You don't need to deal with a problem that might crawl over to someone else's attic. That said, telling the landlord to patch the holes is a good idea for all involved.
