For West Coast music fans, Scottish indie poppers The Trash Can Sinatras will play Slim's on October 5th. I think Str8 saw their showcase in LA a couple of months ago (and if he didn't, he should surrender all of his trucker hats and Von Dutch clothing. Actually, he should surrender all that stuff anyway.)
For East Coast music fans, AC Newman (Carl from the official band of the FB, The New Pornographers) will be playing in New York tonight, Philly on Friday, D.C. on Saturday, and Austin next Wednesday with fledgling indie darlings Rogue Wave.
The supercool Canadian with the redhot Oakland band - it's like the McDLT, but with guitars.
Oh, and Record Surplus in LA is having another giant sale at the end of the month.
Plus, people in the patch can feel like a hipster-for-a-day by seeing Rogue Wave on the John McEnroe show Thursday night at 10 pm. (Trucker hats optional.)

I missed Trashcan Sinatras (though I do have their album), but I did go to Largo to check out the Ditty Bops last night. The theme was "faeries in the garden." So it's two girls, backed by a guy playing stand-up bass and a guy playing fiddle. One girl looks like a shorter Sarah Vowell and plays guitar; the other looks like a prettier but flat-chested Rose McGowan and plays the mandolin and the fretted dulcimer. Shockingly, she's a vegan.
Anyways, they're bouncy and twee, and I left after half an hour.
