You sound rather like Ty, speaking of George Bush. (After all, your statement describes the vast majority of Bush's campaign statements, except on taxes and Iraq.)
My response would be something like:
"He has a policy that he thinks is right, and he's selling it hard. But that's all, a hard sell. Reasonable people can differ on these issues, but I listened to the same things you all are listening to, and I understood what he meant. I understood the limitations and uncertainties? I can't believe that you didn't! What's the matter with you people? KERRY LIED! KERRY LIED! Is that the best you can do? You folks are all so intellectually dishonest, and blinded by your partisanship and outright, visceral hatred for Democrats that you can't see your own moral bankruptcy."
