More seriously, I think this was a tactical error on Bush's part, but nonetheless the right thing to do. I'm still not going to vote for him, but my opinion of him has just gone up.

the whole point starts from the Dem's dogging Bush's record and comparing Kerry's record favorably. That has been negated. going into this if Kerry had said I won't mention 68-73 if you don't Bush would have signed on.
