I would rather the NBA allowed all forms of zone. But they have concluded that they want a certain type of excitement -- the type that comes with one-on-one, athletic play. I can see why to a certain extent, but I really just think they made a determination of one type of exciting game over another. Watching dunks are cool, but crisp passing and accurate long range shooting are exciting too.

If the NBA allowed all kinds of zones, kids wouldn't jump from college as quickly because teams would have no use for them unless they had learned how to beat a zone and built a solid foundation in each of the skills that make basketball a great game.

That said, if we had two of our best jump shooters on this Olympic team, I think we would have won the Gold.

I guess my point is that I (and I think many other American fans) prefer to watch the style of play the NBA perfected in the '80s. But maybe we're a dying breed and the current target-market generation prefers the current style.

I agree we would have won with our best players.
