What about "Soylent Green"? Dude, virtually all movies made in the 1970s had the future as dirty, noisy, and chaotic. And the present ("Taxi Driver") and the past (any Sam Peckinpaw western), too. Personally, I blame this on Nixon.
Apropos of this, I believe that President Heston should be selected the best sci-fi actor by acclamation. In addition to the aforementioned "Soylent Green," he starred in "The Omega Man" (the favorite movie of a young Not Bobby) and "Planet of the Apes."
And I can't think of a better sci-fi movie than "Blade Runner," so I guess I'll go with them scientist dudes.
