Based upon the flyers included in my many credit card bills, some banks offer "credit monitoring" -- essentially, they will notify you if any of the three credit agencies report that "you" are trying to get credit, borrow money, buy a Hummer, etc.

I never signed up, because I have such awful credit (in 1998, I really thought that WebVan was such a great deal that I got a fourth mortgage on Not Bob Manor to buy more stock) that any would-be identity thief would be SOL.
