The summer brews are coming out, and I'm delighted. St. Arnold's Lawnmower Ale is the local favorite around these parts, but with the reemergence of Celis Pale Bock, I think this summer I'll be ordering that the most at the Ice House. Sierra Nevada's summerfest is pretty good, and the standard Shiner Bock will always be on the rotation, as will St. Arnold's Amber Ale.
Summer has officially hit Houston. I was in the park at 6:20 this morning, and the humidity was unbelievable. Probably was already eighty five degrees at that point. When I got home the sun was fully up and doing it's thing. We've had practically no rain in the month of May, and my water bill is going to be huge this month. I get the feeling that it's not going to be nearly as nice of a summer as last year. Every year I convince myself that it's not that bad, but this year looks like it's going to be that bad. Those of you with temperatures below 85, rejoice and be thankful.

I've never understood the attraction of Sierra Nevada. Is the summerfest something other than ale? The regular stuff is way to wheaty for me. I'm more of a lager drinker though (although, as noted earlier, mostly I drink light beer for caloric reasons). My favorite beer is Newcastle draught (not bottle). But nowadays I can only drink one pint before switching to something lighter. I do like Shiner.
Last weekend was sweltering in Dallas. Just about time to start frying eggs on the sidewalk.
