I know all that. And he calls in to radio talk shows to defend his relationship with Pedro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He has been annoited their savior and the Yankee killer and their number one starter (he deserves that one, for sure). But, let's say he gives up 6 runs, 3 times and Pedro blanks us and you end up losing. What use does he serve as far as Boston is concerned?
I'll give you that Boston fans rarely seem to focus their energy on the players (it wasn't Pedro's fault that he gave up all those runs to the Yankees in the ultimate must-win, right? Little is the only one to blame -- although, if he would have taken him out and Timlin would have gotten shelled, everyone would have wanted his head because "you can't take the best, clutch Boston pitcher of this generation out for some no-name middle reliever").
Either way, it was a throw away comment on my part because I can't see Schilling not pitching well.
