The CHOKE of the MILLENIUM

Hey, you don't have to forget the championships; they just don't hold as much weight as the most recent championship. They may be important to you. They may mean something to you. But this year's champ is Boston. It doesn't take anything away from the Yankees' legacy, but the Yankees' legacy didn't win this year.

Boston clearly isn't the better historical franchise, just like Florida State (or any other FL school) can't compete with ND's football legacy. Nevertheless, legacies are in the past. This is now. And what the Yankees did in the past doesn't mean shit right now. You may care about the past, but stating it right now just makes you sound bitter.
You are so full of shit. Your argument sounds good, but it really only applies when your team hasn't won anything in ages. If the Yankees hadn't won a World Series since 1978, you would have a point. But we won four just recently and three in a row, ending in 2000. Maybe you can limit what is relevant to last year because you just won one. But are you going to shut the fuck up next year when you lose in the first round and the Yankees win it all? No. Then the argument will be, "We won one, you won one. Big deal."

And the comment about me sounding bitter is amazing coming from a Red Sox fan (the most bitter fans of any franchise in the history of the world). Really. I gave your team its due. Don't try and tell me that our past championships are meaningless because you finally won one.

I don't hate them for the reasons you think I hate them. I was raised to hate them, before I knew about the economics of baseball. It was shoved into my brain by my grandfather and father, who had to watch my Sox come close throughout the '50s. Before divisions and wild cards. I've always hated them. When they were good. When they were terrible.
You sound bitter.

And your last sentence contradicts a previous sentence. The Yankees haven't always been successful. They sucked in the '80s. And I hated them then too.
26 Championships since 1921. Always.

Hey, I know what's like. All I have right now, as an ND fan, is "most successful college football program of all time".
Right. But your last championship was when?

That's why ND and Yankees fans are so alike. They're both fucking ARROGANT. They look down their noses at other teams b/c no matter what those teams do, and no matter what the Yankees/ND are doing currently, they can never compete with their legacies.
The difference is, Notre Dame is done and has been for a long time. So when they talk about their success, it is meaningless to someone who wasn't born over 30 years ago. They can't compete with big time programs anymore and they can't recruit. There's no shine on that dome anymore. So, while I'm sure the Yankees will be in the playoffs next year, Notre Dame fans will be, once again, talking about yesteryear.
