Well, I know a couple gay guys who dress that way, actually. What, gay guys can't be blah and dumpy, too?
I didn't see anything in that article clearly demonstrating republican-ness, honestly, except the blogger's determination that (i) their advertised issues might alienate some Dem voters, so they must clearly be Republican shit-stirrers, (ii) they didn't want their photos taken by someone calling them republican shit-stirrers and (iii) they were badly dressed and god knows Dems are never badly dressed (and, of course, ALL GAYS are ALL ABOUT FABULOUSNESS). (ii) seems the most damning, but, frankly, I can easily see someone living in a lot of areas of this country wanting to publicize a certain issue but not necessarily wanting to get their picture in the press over it. I had a HS teacher who was fired for getting her photo taken for the local paper at the abortion rights march in DC, so I don't consider that a gimme at all.
Also (or moreso) - I'm annoyed by the paternal tone of "these black churchgoing voters shouldn't have been exposed to that," as if they couldn't handle seeing what someone else says their candidate/party is about and evaluate it on its own merits/lack thereof. If someone comes up to me waiving a sign saying "Badnarik - he's in favor of live infant sacrifice!", I should either be able to say "no, I've found out where Badnarik stands on the human sacrifice issue, and you misstate it," or if I can't and the issue concerns me I should damn well be prepared to go find out for myself rather than believing what some random schmoe on the street says - though most people seem likely to decide "no, I'm going to believe that's not what my candidate stands for because I disagree with it" to avoid having to do anything so difficult as weigh the actual pros and cons of the various candidates instead of just ranting "mine, good! yours, anti-Christ!" (Whoops - getting pretty close to a "too stupid to vote" rant, there.)
That being said, yeah, pretty funny. Images of Bush I disappearing behind that column.
