Be ambitious. Try something new. Go crazy. All you can do is fail, and then you just paint over it and all is forgotten (well, at least by anyone else - you'll still have to live with the failure).
But you can actually get the base, the tints, and a really neat electrical thing that looks like a small outboard motor and mix your own. Then you can add a drop or two of tint while painting to get it just right.
But, also, if there is no natural light then you really do need a new kitchen. I don't know how you can live like that.
