For many women, it's not so much the extra weight as when they gain it. Weight gained during pregnancy really makes feet grow bigger because all the hormones make your joints looser. My feet got a little bigger during pregnancy, but not terribly, because most of the weight I've gained since adolescence was not during pregnancy. Since high school my feet have gotten just over 1/2 size bigger. My sister gained a lot of weight while pregnant, and over two pregnancies she's gained at least one shoe size, if not 1 1/2.
