Regardless, doctors can do nothing for rib injuries, even if a rib is broken. Most doctors/receptionists will tell you this when you attempt to make an appointment re: a rib injury.

Pain medication and rest. If you are, indeed, injured.
No pain on sneezing or deep breathing. I think it's just strain. My uncle broke his rib sliding down one of those cement slides at a water park. He got a head of steam going down, went over a bump, went airborne, and then landed hard on his back and broke 3 ribs.

How do I remember with such picture-perfect accuracy? Why, because we caught it on video tape! I should have sent it to America's Funniest Videos, or whatever that show is called, as the winners always seem to be videos of people experiencing severe bodily injury.
