Of course, I neither read the book nor saw the movie, but considering the number of papers I wrote (and received A's on, natch) in college under such conditions, as well as what I currently do for a living, who the fuck cares?

I bought the book when I was a kid because the movie looked good to me (mainly because Mork was in it), but I was too young to see it. My mom found out I bought the book and, knowing a bit about the book herself, threw it away because she thought I was too young to be reading it. I found the book in the trash and started reading it again anyway. She found the book again and disposed of it in a more permanent manner. That always struck me a sort of odd, given that my mom was quite the crunchy hippie chick. The censorship was unexpected.
I've never tried to read the book since. Or watch the movie. Mom won.
