Alcatraz sucks. And it's cold. Bring a jacket. Spend as little time there as possible. Your kid will love wine country if you slip him a few sips.
I guess you'll have to do the obligatory Fisherman's Wharf even though that pretty much sucks too.
Other than that, take a spin around the Finanacial district and watch guys pee on the sidewalks.
