Muir Woods is good. If it's a nice weekend you're screwed, because everyone and their brother is headed there. Go there during the week if possible. If you go to Stinson Beach keep your eyes on the damn road, because if you don't they'll be winching your rental car up from about 500 ft.
A little bit further is Point Reyes, and it's less crowded.
