how did you like John Thune? I helped fund his campaign partly out of spite for his opponent, and I'm planning to do the same if the Rs can present any credible candidate to run against Durbin in Illinois.
Given the numbers posted by Ty, I think that the current makeup of the senate partially reflects that the Rs are better (for the moment) at picking their battles. They are picking Senate battles in states where the Dems are subject to strong attacks, and then getting a national funding base to fund the statewide Senate races. Its a great tactic to use when it comes to the sparsely populated states where the dollars can make a difference.
In Illinois, things are going downhill for the Dems fast. Daley's move yesterday to appoint a very young and inexperienced chief of staff looks desperate. Reports are that the Feds have put in 24 more FBI agents just to look into more allegations of city corruption.
Come next election cycle, I'll put even money on a new R Senator in Illinois.
