Evolution is proven because it is/was/always has been testable.
The existence and actions of an omnipotent God, be it Hairy Thunderer or Cosmic Muffin, which is at the core of creationism/ID, are not.
Evolution belongs in the science classroom. Creationism/ID does not. If someone wants to spend a whole semester on creationism/ID, I say Bully for em - so long as it's in the religion classroom, where it belongs.
