I was a little surprised, but not shocked. I mean, the songs they picked so clearly favored Carrie! Are you trying to tell me they couldn't possibly have given one of the songs a slightly stronger rock flavor to even the playing field? Feh. Carrie is way more easily marketable, yes, but everything she sang on Tuesday was just slightly sharp the whole way through. Really grated on the ears.
I did think they did a better job of scripting the finale show this time--less singing by the two finalists was a good thing. Among the runnerups, Constantine clearly stood out--he can really wail--but my favorite moment was definitely the surprise appearance by David Hasselhoff. Most of the "real-life idols" were really just has-beens (Kenny G?!?!?), and some of the matchups were a real stretch.
But anyway. Now that all my shows have ended for the summer, maybe I can get some of my back reading done. At least until they start running the beginning of Veronica Mars, which I missed. Or they start the new season of Nip/Tuck.
