Yes - it is a subcategory of "don't accept any gifts from a man you aren't related to that you won't return after you break up because they are embarrasing to remove or you can't bear to part with them." Honored in the breach and all that. I myself have some jewelry I accepted from a guy (one of those bracelets made out of linked multi-colored plastic scarab beetles. I think I was 6).
