Don't worry kid. If you adhere to the following rules, soon you'll be just as popular as ThurgreedMar... - well, I take that back, Thurgreed is popular because he gives away crack cocaine and lets us bang his mother - say, just as popular as, for instance, I.M.Pay or Saxfa:
1) Pick a regular. Any Regular, but preferably an older one [but not Bilmore, he's "elder-sensitive"]. May I suggest Chef.
2) Flame the hell out of your selection. Why? Doesn't matter. Tell them their posts suck, or they don't know what pari passu means. Doesn't matter.
3) Be prepared to get flamed back by tens of other posters for having the audicity to flame a regular. Take it in stride. Like the sun rising in the morning (or Rb being bitchy and fb being manic) this WILL happen.
4) Pick one or two of these "calvary types" and flame them back. Flame hard. Don't defend your intial attack. Continue to fuck with them. This way, you get a name AND a rep*.
5) After a few thousand posts [FB speak for 2pm to 4pm on a monday], several do-gooders on the Board will rise to your defense. Kind souls, like genteel GP NotBob, or good Christian folk like SEC. Often, although not always, these defenders are usually newer posters like yourself, who feel as if they haven't yet been absorbed into the clique because they don't get the inside jokes [Self-test: If you cannot figure out the inside joke in every one of Lady Greediva's posts - good, because they're not funny - but I digress].
6) So now you've got a name, a rep, a group of defenders, and a bunch of regulars that you pissed off. You're doing fine, you're almost home - in the final stretch. Keep posting nice things with the defenders, but keep flaming the old regulars.
7) Ultimately, the regulars will warm up to you. Not only because of your persistency, but mainly because they are a bunch of losers who hang around the internet all day and cannot afford to lose any potential new friends. They are akin to the "Island of Misfit Toys." I, myself, like to think of myself as the Dentist elf. [BTW, wasn't there once a poster named Yukon Cornelius?]
