La Farine is in Oakland and Berkeley, too, and their bread is too good to be true. Worth the drive.

When we lived in the Berkeley, my sister and I toyed with opening a bakery that delivered small loaves every morning, because we could never go through a full loaf before it dried out. We ended up with a lot of croutons and a very happy bird population.
Unfortunately for the bread loving population in Berkeley, the tech bubble crashed shortly after we thought up our gold mine, and we had no interest in following the footsteps of homeruns.com and the like.
Fortunately for us, though, my sister started sleeping with a guy who delivered for Acme Bakery, so he made sure our house was on his route.
