I guess I'm part of the problem, then, because I would watch him in certain roles (like in
Boiler Room for example) and wonder why they would cast a black (or half black, half white) guy as an Italian. I was confused as hell at first because he was part of the group that seemed to be racist, but he didn't mind and it just didn't work until it dawned on me that he was supposed to be Italian. I got over it, but then wondered whether he was trying to pass himself off as Italian because he seemed to choose those roles (
Knockaround Guys or whatever that's called).
Whatever. I give the guy credit for naming himself "Vin Diesel" and getting everyone else to repeat it with a straight face. That takes balls.
