I think the only time I have felt weird about buying food was when I went to a convenience store when studying for the bar and got a pint of ben & jerrys, a bag or two of chips, a package (the big one, not the little single-serving ones) of chocolate nutterbutters, three or four candy bars, and probably something to drink. I thought the cashiers might call the bulimia police or do an intervention or something, though -- not really worried about them laughing at me.

The only times I have ever felt weird about buying food occurred back when I fed my cat the crap you can buy in the supermarket, and the only thing that would get me to the supermarket was running out of coffee or cat food, and I would buy a lot of both at once so that I didn't have to go back for some time.
