Hustle & Flow
Good news and bad news. Hustle & Flow did not make $10.5M this weekend (somewhere between 8M-9M). So what's the good news? After posting here, and doing some more research, I cancelled my large bet and bet the under for a small amount.
In other movie box office news -- the Island just edged out Bad News Bears for third place (12.5M-11.5M). The problem is that the Island cost about $90M more to make. Michael Bay seems to have lost his touch a bit, no? Perhaps it was Jerry Bruckheimer who was the smarty all along. I'll bet he's laughing his ass off (Michael Bay dissed him a bit by taking this project without talking to Bruckheimer about it, according to Entertainment Weekly).
So thanks to the Mets comeback yesterday, and my good sense about Hustle & Flow, this weekend was pretty profitable. Of course, the baby due next week probably puts me in the hole to the tune of about $800k. Sigh.
