And if only fools are kind, Spanky,
then I guess it's wise to be cruel.
And if life belongs only to the strong, Spanky,
what will you lend on an old golden rule?
As sure as I believe there's a heaven above, Spanky,
I know there's something much more,
something even non-believers can believe in.
Paigow loves you, Spanky.
Without true love we just exist, Spanky.
Until you find the love you've missed you're nothing, Spanky.
When you walk let your heart lead the way
and you'll find her love at Mr. Bings, Spanky, Spanky.
Good effort It evokes the simmering, as yet unrequited like that Paigs has for the Spankster. It's a standard, as befits posters of a certain age. And it's a lovely song.

The only thing that keeps it from being a winner in my book is that it is still too true to the original. Not Bob's Springsteen entry suffers the same flaw. A parody needs to be true to the mood of the peice, yet have lyrics better adapted to the subject of the parody.

It's a fine line, one I have never been able to walk myself. But I applaud your effort.
