Looking up the lyrics for this song, I was surprised to find this line I had never noticed:
"Performing on a stool we've a sight to make you drool
Seven virgins and a mule, keep it cool, keep it cool"
At first I thought the person who posted the lyrics was just fucking with the more gullible (and unemployed, if they're covering this song) cover bands out there. But I looked up the lyrics on other sites, and apparently it's genuine. Huh.
It's difficult writing a song parody and realizing the original lyrics are probably funnier than anything you've written, but I decided to stick it out with this song anyway. If this were poker, I would've been considered pot-committed. Having at least helped paigow invent this parody contest, I felt somewhat obligated to enter.
But I'm not wholly disappointed with the effort. Spanky is the ultimate judge here, and while he probably doesn't own any EL&P, I'd be willing to bet he has a couple of Yes CDs stashed away next to the bong in the attic. If this means I'm pandering to the audience, so be it.
