The dream sequence -- I think -- was meant to show how David and Nate are connected -- and perhaps they were having a "crossover" or shared dream. At first, it seems clear that it's Nate who is dreaming/thinking, but when Stoner David turns into Mortician David, Nate has said goodbye, and is satisfied with his "choice", David's concern notwithstanding. At that point, the dream is David's. Not sure why David was a stoner. |
