You have to ask an Admin to put a mod on your ignore list. The Admins will do it, no questions asked, but they have to put it on there. Voila, ignored mod. The only problem with this is that you have to re-ask if you ever want to take anyone at all off your ignore list, because the system won't accept an update of an ignore list if there are mods or admins on it. It will accept additions.
I would imagine that if one were to have some hangup about PMs, the admins would accept emails.
