Many of the clubs hired western men to be the hosts, bartenders and waiters because it was chic to have western men in these jobs. The entertainers and the bartenders etc. hooked up with the models and the hostesses but the rich equity and bond traders were left high and dry. The same was true of the foreign lawyers like me. We generally were making pretty good money but most it was difficult for most of my collegues to get these girls to date them.
