Having a mattress pad avoids the stain the mattress problem. (incidently, having a special airtight mattress pad also keeps the dust mites from living in your mattress. I'm out on a limb here and going on record as officially anti-dust mite. RT, update my dossier accordingly.)

The dossier already had the dust mite thing. Fringey and I are very thorough.
