When I worked for Dole in 1988, in NH, someone/persons cut the phone lines to Roberston's campaign headquarters during a crucial pre-primary period.
It was "common knowledge" amongst the political campaign workers that the deed was done by people who worked for a certain Vice President's campaign.
It was wrong. Period. Wrong. It should not have been tolerated. Atwater was a dirty nasty shit.

Someone here asked me the other day, what about when Eisenhower sold out the Brits and French in the Sinai in 56. I replied I disagree (in hindsight, as I am not that old (hi Bilmore!)).
No qualification. Big fuckup. Eisenhower blew it and he is in part responsible for the continued mess in that area and his successors should apologize to the Israelis for his fuck up.
