Excuse me, your Freudian slip is showing.

Why do you do that? Don't wait staff at inexpensive restaurants who provide excellent service deserve a bigger tip than the surly waiter at Arroyo Chop House*?

I tip somewhere between $4-$15 for a two person meal, depending on a lot of things; the size of the check is one factor, but not the only one.

*I've never had a bad waiter at Arroyo; I was just trying to think of an expensive restaurant.
Remind me if we are ever going to eat out somewhere nice that we go someplace you have not eaten at before. The top end of your tip range barely approaches acceptable for a meal at a moderately high priced restaurant. Hell, I left a $15 tip on a bill just under 60 bucks last night and didn't think it was too much.
