A couple of years ago my doctor told me to lose some weight based on my having a BMI of about 29, classified as obese. A lay person looking at me then would never have thought to call me fat, so it was a bit of a shock to be called not just overweight but obese. I didn't take offense. I lost the weight (current BMI less than 24. Yay!).

BMI doesn't mean shit. It's gotta be percentage of body fat that is meaningful. My BMI is 24.8 and I ain't fat or overweight.*
