Obscure College Feat : Bill Eslinger of Woodbury, N.Y., reports that after California of Pennsylvania beat Mansfield 88-12, Mansfield issued a press release boasting that kick returner Ronnie Montgomery "set a school record with 10 kickoff returns for 266 yards." Eslinger notes that 10 kickoff returns "hardly seems like an accomplishment, considering this means the opposing team scored at least nine times." The press release laments that Montgomery "was just two returns … from tying the NCAA record" for most kickoff returns in a game. There's always next week! All Mansfield has to do is surrender at least 11 scores.
