I don't hate New Orleans. I hate the idea of spending vast sums of money to rebuild a city on ground much of which is below sea level. Just because we have the potential engineering solutions doesn't mean we should implement them.
And, to prove I'm fair, I think it was a sucky idea to build the nation's capital in a swamp.

Where do we put the people who work at the enormous port and associated railroad facilities and the families of the people on the offshore rigs and all that? The city is where it is for a reason that is, unfortunately, not obsolete (unlike, say, Charleston or something).
