No, it's right. The Yankees clinched, by virtue of a better season head-to-head record with the Red Sox. (That's the first divisional tie-breaker.) Even if the Red Sox win and tie the Yankees for the best record in the division, they don't win the division.

If the Red Sox lose then the Sox play the Indians in a one-game playoff to see who goes to the postseason (provided Cleveland wins tomorrow = str8 does not wager on them.) Since Cleveland's offense looks like dog-meat at the moment, they still have a pretty good chance of making the postseason even if they drop tomorrow's game.

But they would get the Wild Card with a win tomorrow, regardless of whether Cleveland wins tomorrow or not. And, if you paid attention to what happened last year, the Sox won the World Series as the Wild Card team.

So, are you asking this because you want to see the Red Sox in or the Yankees out? Or is there some other independent reason known only to one of the Paigows?
