Billy Joel and Elton John toured together. WTF? That's a really odd crossover audience the promoter was going for there... I can't imagine any of Elton's gay fan base tolerating a 14 minute Captain Jack>Italian Restaurant. That would seem to be to be gay repellant.

Nothing is worse than musical theater, but I agree that some subgeneres are worse than others, and Billy Joel may top that. Not that I actually mind Billy Joel, but argh.
I went to the Elton John / Billy Joel concert. Sort of. I lived right next to the stadium and listened from a balcony. It was pretty decent, in a quiet hits of the 70s kind of way. Based on the crowd I watch filing in and out, I think you underestimate both of their 40-60 y.o. white suburban fan base.
