Okay, I'll be fair and admit to something very, very embarrassing, to something that many of you will find worse than many, if not all, other picks here: in
The Bridges of Madison County (I know!!! Shmaltzfest!!!) the scene where Meryl Streep is sitting in the truck with her husband behind Clint Eastwood's truck at the traffic light, and she gazes at the back of Clint's head, and the red light seems interminable, and it's raining (I know!!! Schmaltzapalooza!!!), and the wipers are going, and she is either fighting the impulse to get out of her husband's truck and get into Clint's, or fighting the impulse not to, and then the light changes, Clint makes his turn at the light, and she loses her opportunity, and she and her husband go the other way, and you know she will never see Clint again.
I attribute the very slight tearing that occurs when I see this scene to Meryl Streep's acting, which is so much better than her material. And because I have loved someone whom I know I will never see again. :violin:
Other movies that make me cry include
Kramer v. Kramer and
Sophie's Choice.
