The ultimate double standard.

The various women's organizations across this country lost all credibility when they did not attack Bill Clinton. They immediately assumed Anita Hill was telling the truth even though she followed Clarence Thomas to a new job after such "harassment" took place. In addition, most harrassers show a tenancy to commit such acts and usually leave a trail of victims in their wake - look at John Tower, Bob Packwood and Bill Clinton. But with Clarence Thomas no other women came forward. Yet all the womens groups and liberal organization immediately assumed she was telling the truth.
The constant refrain against Clarence Thomas (to justify why such conduct was relevent in the hearings) was that since he was an harraser he could not be trusted on womens issues when such issues came before the court. Yet Clinton, a clear sexual harasser, was trusted with the top policy making position in the country.
When Anita Hills crediblity was questioned US Senators were harangued for attacking the victim, yet when James Carville said that when you spread money around a trailer park no tellling what you druge up - such an attack on the victim was narely critisized.
The most damaging event to the womens movement last century was a self inflicted wound. The immediate assumption of guilt on Clarence Thomas and the silence on Bill Clinton was one of the most hypocritical and shameful events in US history.
