So did I, but my experience must not be with as rarified a crowd as you know. Also, public elementary school, based upon my geographically limited first hand investigatory experience appears to have changed in the twenty five plus years since I was an elementary school student. And changed for the worse.

I don't home-school my kids and you know that, however, if it was a choice between public and nothing, I would consider it. There are plenty of alternative environments for socialisation.
