The word for four and the word for death are the same. There are many buildings in Japan that do not have a fourth floor. There is rarely a four in an address. Ku (pronounced keu) is nine in Japanese. I do not know the word for torture but I had never heard that it was similar to nine. I never saw a building without a ninth floor. Do you know what the word (or Konji) is for torture?
