If I were a cynic, which I am not, I would point out that the vast majority of people would respond, during a word association exercise, to the word "impending" with the word "doom."
But as I pointed out above, I am not a cynic, although I may be becoming a wonk, and not in the old sense, just in the way behind sense. But I expect y'all will cut me some slack.
