I tried to moved away from such unconcious institutionalized racism by self-identifying my southern-European-heritaged (with possibly a dash of illegimate native American) dusky olive/tan self as "swarthy" in anti-biased and diversity-embracing solidarity with the peoples of all colours of the globe.
Obviously, in other quarters the affect of Bobby Byrd's conscience is strong, much like the dark side of the force.
